Charlie Plays Chopin Minute Waltz (Op. 64 No. 1)
Aug 11th, 2008 by mingyi
Charlie played this beautiful and fun piece for a lonnnnnng time. I remember he started the piece in March by himself, and quite quickly he played it reasonably well (to non-professional’s ears). Then he had to focus on several competitions. Then it was his China trip. Then the winners recital and new pieces. When it was June and we thought he’s ready for recording, his teacher listened to it and told us that he still had some some mistakes. Then he got really bored of playing the piece. It certainly took some perseverance on my part to get him practice it from time to time and finally record it today.
He played one time really really well but made a big mistake at almost the very end and he just gave up and quit the playing. So we had to pick this version which is not as nice but still, I like it. I begin to think that our recording setup is still not great now, because his playing definitely sounded more musical & with better dynamics than the recording. Same for the Bach Prelude we recorded a week ago. Might be that I changed some setting accidentally? But still, I hope you enjoy it!
BTW, Charlie’s turning 8 soon! We might be able to record 2-5 videos before he turns 8.
