Change to Charlie’s Youtube Channel & Our Video Posting
Dec 12th, 2009 by mingyi
We haven’t posted a video for quite a while. It’s due to various reasons - first it was that we raised standards, then too busy, then our camcorder’s half broken (it couldn’t keep focus, it happened during my recording Charlie and Marc Yu wrestling and threatened to post it on Youtube, and suddently the camcorder lost focus, it was like magic), then competition, then relaxation, and now for yet another reason which I will detail in the future (I also took nearly half of Charlie’s Youtube videos to “Private” status partly due to that, and partly due to other considerations).
FYI, Charlie is working on many pieces, most of which we have never posted on Youtube (and probably won’t be posting anytime soon), and here’s a sample:
Two complete Beethoven Sonatas; Two Bach Inventions; more pieces from Beethoven, Mozart, Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Grieg …
The camcorders seem to be not as reliable as we hope.
I was about to ask you for recommendations in picking a new camcorder because our camcorder also broke down during our vacation a week ago. I remember that you had a HD camcorder. So, are you planing to get a new one? Which brand will you choose?
Hi, Linda, yes, we have Canon HV20 which was the best consumer HD camcorder in 2007 by camcorderinfo.com. Since it cost me $900 or so a couple years ago I eventually decided to fix it (cost $157 to fix). I did consider HG21 (120GB HDD) and HF S10 (32 GB flash) from Canon for an upgrade, but the concern over editing AVCHD format and wasting my HV20 and its tapes prevented me to take the step. Besides, these HDD and flash camcorders only JUST caught up in quality with my HV20 (earlier flash camcorders did not reach the maximum AVCHD bandwidth, which matches miniDV). But if you need to replace your old camcorder, HG21 is a great choice ($650 or so) and also HF S10 ($1000 or so). The latter’s a bit better since HDD camcorders, if dropped, the hard drive inside may be damaged and you lose your video. HF S10 is flash memory drive so it’s not a problem. But if you’re a careful handler, HG21 offers cheaper price, only slightly lower quality and much bigger capacity (120 GB vs. 32 GB). Also check camcorderinfo.com and a few other websites for their reviews on camcorders.
