Hi, Judy, that's wonderful! Congratulations!
BTW while surely any 11 year old could play Chopin Ballade No.1, it is very challenging for even the best 11 year olds to do it *properly*. Charlie also *played* the piece, but his playing cannot be compared to 11-year-old Annie's playing that I linked in the post above.

I am sure an 11 year old can play this piece without any doubt. My son did Chopin scherzos when he was 10.

Hello Charlie,

I am starting working on a brazilian website of classical music and I would like to interview you. To ask you some things about classical music and about you as a pianist. Would you conceive me this honor?

Yours,

Max.

Hi, Lilly, that's totally understandable - silly of me to forget that. There'll certainly be more recitals in the area and congrats on getting into Princeton! We should ask for your advice soon!

Thank you for posting Charlie's performance of the piano trio! I couldn't attend the recital since many of my friends are leaving for the summer and there's an urgency to spend time with them for the last time before college, but at least I got to hear to performance online. Charlie's unerring musical instincts come through here, and the adults did well too! I hope that when I grow older and become a scientist (as is my current goal) I will still be able to perform chamber music occasionally =) Keep us posted on Charlie's upcoming performances, especially those within walking distance of Princeton campus, since I won't have transportation of my own after next year =P

Charlie you are amazing.
Parents - ever considered that Charlie probably played the piano in his last life?
A normal naturalchild hood (which you seem to be giving him) is the way to ensure that he continues thrilling us with his performances for many years to come.
Go Charlie!

Thanks Lilly & congratulations on your graduation! Going to college is a big change, but nice to stay close to home!

We don't currently have plan for another solo recital soon, but hey, if you're looking for some music after this Friday's graduation, why not come to Charlie's teacher's studio recital a day later on Saturday (1:30pm, June 19, Bristol Chapel, direction:http://bit.ly/dhkbCc) when Charlie will perform 2 solo pieces and a beautiful Beethoven piano trio with two brilliant scientist and amateur musicians. What's more, a national flute competition winner, his amazing pianist sister and professional singer mom would perform a trio together as well! It'd be a great recital with many other wonderful young pianists, not to mention Charlie's personal non-music favorite - reception afterward!

I must confess that I'm a bit jealous - I wish I'd had the opportunity to hear someone play like Charlie in elementary school! All the videos posted from his recital are excellent. The program also seems well-chosen, including a nice mixture of styles to keep a young audience not necessarily used to classical music interested. Are you planning any more solo recitals in the (somewhat) near future? I would love to hear Charlie play live! But even though I'm graduating high school on Friday, I will be in the area for the next four years, so I suppose I have plenty of time =)

Congratulations to you too Lilly! We don't know which day and where he'd perform yet (<strong>UPDATE</strong>: it's May 8 Gill Chapel). Hope to see you there! BTW, it was definitely a pleasant surprise for us (Charlie's teacher and we) to see judge's comment as we were bracing for praises and then some polite notion that Moonlight 3rd's not a piece for a 9-year-old due to the scrutiny judges generally give to young kids trying to play overly difficult pieces. Clearly Charlie played it really well!
